Market Manager – Japan (Tokyo)

Our client provides a first-rate reservation service in 38 languages that uniquely combines local knowledge and local connections to provide the best hotel deals to both business and leisure travelers.

Role:
As Market Manager, your key objective will be to help expand our client’s room supply network in Japan and establish and manage hotel relationships.  You should be experienced in the hotel industry and/or travel industry, especially online travel.  You will be taking care of the hotel market and assisting other trade partnership related functions, as well as identifying market trends and defining potential sources of supply to satisfy consumer demand on the company website.

Responsibilities:
•    Execute strategies and promotional activities with partners to enhance productivity and opportunities to manage room availability and pricing competitiveness of the company website
•    Identify regional supply requirements in terms of product offerings and promotions to match with market demand
•    Identify, qualify, contact, counsel and visit the important hotel and accommodation suppliers in Japan to grow the portfolio of key destinations
•    Manage listing process for new suppliers and renewals with existing partners
•    Train and inform partners on our technologies, tools and model
•    Participate in market research as required
•    Act as the key relationship contact point for suppliers on all issues
•    Evaluate performance of partnerships and determine action plan to optimize production
•    Prepare presentations and commercial materials
•    Manage all supplier data in distribution systems
•    Manage seasonal renewals
•    Provide training of distribution systems for suppliers
•    Manage regular weekly and monthly supplier and internal reports
•    Review and advise on agreements with suppliers
•    Improve team operation processes and manage supporting resources
Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, in any relevant field
•    Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in hotel or travel industry, especially e-commerce or OTA channels
•    Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence external and internal stakeholders
•    Excellent command of English and Japanese
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
•    Ability to communicate value proposition to potential partners
•    Team player mentality
•    Professional “get it done” attitude and work ethic
•    Past success in acquiring, mentoring and building productive long term customer relationships
•    Energetic and driven personality
